Note that you will probably have a difficult time finding a Zeiss Visulas YAG II Laser in better condition than this one. This is actively being used currently (but only relatively very infrequently compared to most practices) and we will continue to use it as such until sold. When we sell it, we will instead either refer out YAG laser cases or we will just do YAG's at another physician facility. We feel that for the amount that we are using this (not much relatively) it is really a luxury item to have this sitting in our office while being used so lightly (from a business standpoint, it is really not being utilized frequently enough to justify having such an expensive item in our office). This is a very nice YAG with great optics (the slit lamp delivery system is a zeiss laser slit lamp-that is a specialized yag laser version of the 30SL). You can see in the pictures how it has been very lightly used. We actually took a digital photo (one of the photos shown) of an eye through the slit lamp oculars. On 1/1/07 (exciting life as an ophthalmologist) we lasered a piece of paper with it as shown. We actually got a photo (as pictured) with the yag burst (looks like a white colored burst) and then you can see the partial hole created in the paper (there is a disrupted layer of paper with a black dot at the center of the burst disruption-shown in the picture after the burst picture). It works well as shown. We believe that the power goes up to about 10 mj. You can do single pulse burst or you can do 2 (burst mode for two bursts) or 3 (burst mode for three bursts). This uses the Zeiss super Gaussian mode. There is a 4 point (yag's often have 2 but this is 4 point) HeNe aiming beam system which produces four dots (shown to some degree in one or two of the pictures) and when the four dots are merged in to a single dot by focusing with the slit lamp (shown in at least one picture) on the object you are wishing to treat (e.g. posterior capsule or iris in the case of a LPI), you are focused for treatment. The yag is offset (pre-set offset intentionally by Zeiss to the pre-set level they deemed optimal) to safeguard against pitting an intraocular lens (IOL) as much as possible. You get the whole system as shown ( Zeiss power table that the zeiss laser slit lamp is mounted on, the laser system which is incorporated in to and on top of the table and slit lamp as shown-that is all as shown which is the entire system as it came from Zeiss). This plugs in to a standard electrical outlet (no special outlet needed; just a standard electrical outlet). We can not guarantee the yag in to the future but it has been used very little compared to a standard yag laser (our practice is very low volume). We hightly doubt you can find a used yag better than this one. As far as we can tell, this system needs no current service. It is working fine for us and again we are using it currently. But for purposes of selling it to you, we felt that you would want to know what options you would have for service if such is needed in the future. Therefore we spoke with Carl Zeiss Meditec ( Humphrey ) Inc. on 12/20/06 at extension 4032 and they said that you can purchase a service contract for this. For example, they can sell you a Gold Plan for this unit for a Yag II (there current latest model is Yag III but they are still selling service contracts for Yag II) for $1825 for the first year. We are not sure that you really want to do this (that is we question whether or not such would be cost effective for you) (perhaps if you do wish to pursue such a service contract you could do so for a year or two and then once comfortable with it you can stop spending money on service contracts; note that service contracts sometimes are not that cost effective and don't always cover everything, etc.; but you likely already have your own opinion in that regard but nevertheless we are just giving information for you, etc.). You could call them and discuss with them the Gold Plan further [perhaps they ofter other plans but we are not sure; note that we have no financial relation with Carl Zeiss Meditec ( Humphrey ) Inc. and we are just an ophthalmology practice]. |
