This is the size of screen required for destruction of government security items. Larger screens are available from the manufacturerer. Why pay $29,595 for the newest unit when you can get this slightly used unit for so much less? This is a SEM 1012, not the newer 1012/5. The 1012/5 sells for $21,595 and $29,595 with the vacuum system and booth. SEM still has a 1012 demo unit for sale on their website for $11,300 without vacuum and cabinet . Note, that ours has the vacuum and cabinet, which on the newer model costs an additional $8000. We are selling this unit on behalf of the original owner, a Federal government contractor. This is the industry's original disintegrator, designed over 35 years ago and continually improved. It features an extremely large 10" x 12" feed opening and up to 1000 lbs/hour throughput capacity. With a 3/32" screen the throughput is 125 -150 pounds/ hr. Recommended Room Size for this equipment: 12' D x 14' W x 8'4"H minimum. The holes in the above interchangeable security screen are 3/32 inch. You can get screens with openings up to 1". Note there is no rust on the screen or blade! Waste input into the unit falls down a chute into a destruction chamber. The 3 rotating knives and 2 stationary bed knives continue to cut the waste into smaller and smaller pieces until it passes through the disposal screen. The size of the final waste is determined by an interchangeable security screen. On this machine the screen is currently 3/32".
