MOXY Articulated Dump Truck MT40B 2001 MT40 MT41 40 Ton Moxy Trucks of America's 40-ton-payload MT40B has been improved for increased performance, efficiency, and reliability. The MT40B features a new 450-hp Scania DSI 14, turbocharged, water-cooled, V-8 diesel engine. The electronic fuel-injected engine has improved cold-starting performance and is digitally linked to the transmission for smoother shifting. A new ZF 6 WG 310 transmission with EST 37 power shift has automotive style shifting, six forward and three reverse gears, and automatic converter lockup in all gears. Moxy said the transmission has been upgraded with stiffer shafts, stronger bearings, wider gears, and more clutch discs. This allows for increased off road drivability at higher speeds, reduced stress levels in the driveline, and a higher transport capacity. The 29-cu-yd-capacity MT40B has a new, ribless-style body design with a scow end and conical shape toward the rear to reduce material sticking and provide additional strength and durability. A shorter, curved front wall reduces over spilling during loading. For added strength, the body is constructed of Hardox 400 hardened steel plates in the bottom, front, and sides. A new hydraulic system for the body-tilt operation automatically senses unequal weight distribution and stops the unloading process. The hauler's oscillation ring has been redesigned as a separate and sealed unit with an increased diameter, improved lubrication, and more effective seals to prevent penetration of dirt, mud and silt. It is now attached to the front frame and to the articulated steering hinge. Fatigue strength in the rear frame was increased for greater performance and durability.
