Subject: Coherent innova 70 argon ion laser and 70 power supply
It is an Innova 70 laser head, serial #: 7-459, with # 60500 tube, (document 0157-777-03), and an Innova 70 power supply (serial #: P/S 0451), both made by Coherent. The sticker on the side says it is a class IV , 12 Watt max Argon Ion laser. I would believe this to be outdoor capable as far as light shows go. This has only been operated at a low amperage setting, though is estimated to be able to still operate at 5-10 Watts if driven properly. Manufacture date for both pieces: 12/86. The hours meter on the tube is very hard to read, but I do see a notch in the shiny line at the right, at about 4950. An almost broken KEY that fits this IS included, and will work. Luckily it is not stuck in lock. It is actually still one piece, barely.
Previous use: This system was hooked up in a lab setting for a project lasting several years and then the project ended. This equipment was only operated by qualified personnel, and was removed in perfect working order all at the same time, then transported several miles away and stored for a few months. There was still fresh water in the hoses recently. Water cooled: There is a hookup for 2.0 gallons of water per minute to the power supply that uses typical washing machine/garden hose fittings! Also on the PS are the ingoing and outgoing small fittings that run to the laser to cool the tube; the hoses for this are connected to the laser head. REMEMBER: ALWAYS cool this equipment with water during ANY run-time, and up to 20min after tube emission shutoff. Control: This can be turned on and off WITHOUT a remote! On the power supply there is some degree of control. You can turn this on and off by turning the key in the lock.
Cosmetically: These units display average use. Inside components look excellent and free of dust. Power supply looks good – only some scratches on top of it. Maintained: Never cannibalized or tampered, never manhandled, in fact these were in a routine maintenance, and non-smoking environment (a laser lab). This equipment is a MATCHED PAIR and was used together in this lab.
