The stem of this new Hip Fracture System is based on the well-respected Austin Moore design, which has had more than thirty years of clinical success. Howmedica has modularized and improved the original Austin Moore stem to provide additional benefits, such as increased stress transfer to the calcar region, more options in neck length, improved implant stability, reduced stress risers, better patient fit based on evaluations of hip fracture x-rays, the option of press-fit or cemented applications, positive control of insertion and removal, and a complete, uncomplicated system based on the minimal instrumentation of one trial and one rasp per stem.
